perfect postcards
So I am sure everyone else probably knows about this site but I just found it and these fabulous postcards. The Felt & Wire Shop is a curated marketplace of designer papergoods. They have note cards, stationery, posters, invitations, etc from lots of different vendors…It’s like Etsy – except only for papergoods. It is my new heaven!
I am particularly in love with the postcards pictured above… BIG, GRAPHIC, SIMPLE & FUN. Everything a postcard should be just to let someone know you are thinking about them. So since I will be ordering some of these…who wants a postcard?

BookBook Mac Book Covers
I always like to keep a running list of possible gift items for birthdays, Christmas and anniversaries – since it aways seems that I can never think of a gift to give when it is actually necessary to give one. Here is my latest addition to this list… the BookBook Hardback Leather Case for the MacBookPro from TwelveSouth. Love, love, love. Now the question is who will receive such a fabulous gift?

Masking Tape Gift Ribbon
I could gift wrap presents all day long. No joke. However, since I have to do other things occasionally I have to limit myself. Despite my vast hoarding of different types of ribbon I didn’t feel like I had one that would really fit this plain (but fun) teal paper. So out came masking tape, scissors and a teal sharpie! I taped the big strip of masking tape around the present and then wrote the ‘Happy Birthday’ song on the tape with the sharpie. I cut another long strip of masking tape in half - taping one half down and writing the birthday song again and then the same with the other. Finally I needed to make the bow… So I cut seven pieces of tape and diagonally trimmed the ends so that I could fold the strip in half and then tape the ends together (making sure to leave a little tape exposed to connect it to the other bow pieces). The last piece I twisted around for the center of the bow. Oh!… and before connecting the ends I wrote ‘Happy Birthday’ on each piece.
This was seriously one of my favorite presents to wrap – and I just love that I got to use cost effective resources to make something fun – instead of my normal ribbon expense!

alice supply co.
the next time you think dustpans, brooms, plungers and other household items have to be boring and hidden in the closet. think again. the lovely ladies of alice supply co. [raili classen + maria barnes] started transforming everyday items from bland to vibrant in 2007 after a trip to mexico where they saw brightly colored hammers and brooms. one of my personal favorites is the dustpan. because we all know those can be so unattractive. and i know that the next time i need a housewarming gift…alice supply co will be my first stop.

lego ipod speakers
the puppies and i went to the dog beach in huntington yesterday [they love the beach more than i can say - they start whining two blocks before we get there]. which made me really excited to think about all the beach days that are just around the corner as the weather warms up. and what better to accompany me on the beach but my ipod and this super cute lego ipod speaker from delight…

i think the gold one is calling my name…but i would love any of them. they come in all the regular lego colors and then of course the metallic ones featured above. these are just the bee’s knees and are so great since they just attach to your ipod [no batteries or cords needed]. so fun!
and on a random side note…i totally think real legos should come in metallic and pinks and purples. just think how many more little girls would play with legos and then there might just be more girl engineers and architects.

gift of the mouse

i am not a fan of mice in my house. but this adorable paddling mouse candleholder from wisteria would be an exception for me. and i think this would be such a cute little gift or just such a nice nicknack [like i need more things around my house]. but really…i love this little mouse.

not your typical fruit bowl

since it is friday i thought i would show a fun little piece and this fruit holder from design + home makes my day. not only would the fruit look so enticing in the kitchen but just think what a wonderful centerpiece this would make – especially in the summer or for brunch or even for a buffet. my mind is just swirling with all the types of fruit it could hold and how you could put apples, orange, pears, lemons – and make different designs and patterns in the holders. i think this is definitely the next investment for my entertaining arsenal (i just have to find room – haha).

march 17th gifts
one of my favorite sites to wile my time away on is etsy. i love that it is this fabulous marketplace for artists and craftspeople to sell their creations. and there is no shortage of super fabulous designs. and since it is st. patrick’s day … and there is no holiday that i don’t like to give gifts here are a few of my favorites.
oh how i want to wear this adorable pendant from cathy walters. i love the four leaf clover on the music background. for some reason i have a tendency towards items with music sheets – go figure. but the fun surprise of this pendant is that on the back of the pendant there is the word ‘lucky’.
and how cute is is this miniature pot of gold…oh my! i love to decorate my workspace for every holiday and i have to admit i think this would take the cake for the best desk accessory. it is chic but not over the top. i think it could even work on a guy’s desk. and i definitely like the idea of having a pot of gold on my desk all the time.

judge a present by its wrapping.

so my brother turned 18 a few days ago. i was surprised that he even made it to that age given his propensity for injury and intense sports activities. but he did. so to mark the occasion we purchased him his first manly leather wallet and some lotto tickets and wrapped it up in this super fun robot wrapping paper. i have to say that my favorite part of giving presents is the wrapping of said presents. and for boys of any age i think this paper takes the cake.
