five star bird resorts

the best nest has the most amazing bird houses i have seen. they have so many styles – cape cod, coutry club, pagoda, castle, chapel – you name it and i think they have it. i just think they are so cute and i am pretty sure that all the birds in the neighborhood would flock to my backyard just to live in a house like this!

nautical puppy leash
since the puppies and i went for a walk on the dog beach in huntington [they love the beach more than i can say - they start whining to go two blocks before we get there] it prompted me to show off the best beach leashes from harry barker…

they of course have matching collars. but i just think this would be the bee’s knees to have a fun nautical leash when i take the pups to the beach. i have to say that i love harry barker. it was started when its founder, carol perkins, was recovering from a brain tumor and her sheltie, harry barker, helped her through it all. plus it’s environmentally friendly which gives it even more brownie points. not to mention that all of harry barker is pretty sweet.

doggie dinner
when i get industrious and decide that riley & rocky are going to get something more enticing than just dog food and canned chicken. this is what i make them. before i can even cook it riley & rocky are guarding the kitchen to make sure i can’t sneak out of there without giving them some…and the casserole is wonderful because i usually have all the ingredients at home so there is no need to go to the store!
INGREDIENTS
- 4 cups diced cooked chicken
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional – i don’t always have this)
- 4 cups cooked rice
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups shredded cheese (i usually have mozzarella or cheddar)
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9 x 13 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Mix together the chicken, carrots, parsley and rice in a large bowl. Whisk the milk and flour together in a small bowl, pour over the rice mixture and then mix together. Place mixture into the baking dish and sprinkle the cheese evenly on top. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until it is golden brown on top. And let it cool enough so that it isn’t too hot for the dogs. Store covered in the refrigerator.
